Ingredients
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice (about half a lemon)
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
8 ounces cold filtered water
4 to 6 ice cubes
1 small pinch pink Himalayan salt (optional)Instructions
- Squeeze lemon: Squeeze half a lemon into a tall glass, removing any seeds with your hand or a small strainer. You need about one teaspoon of fresh juice.
- Add baking soda: Measure half a teaspoon of baking soda and add it directly to the lemon juice in the glass. Let the mixture fizz for 20 to 30 seconds until the bubbles calm down.
- Add cold water: Pour 8 ounces of cold filtered water slowly into the glass while stirring gently to avoid overflow.
- Add ice: Drop 4 to 6 ice cubes into the glass. Add a pinch of pink Himalayan salt now if using.
- Stir and serve: Give the drink a final gentle stir and enjoy immediately while cold and fizzy.
Notes
Always add baking soda to lemon juice, not the other way around.
Do not exceed one serving per day.
Start with 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda if you are new to this drink.
Lemon juice can be frozen in ice cube trays for up to one month for quick prep.
